    Saving precious minutes:
This emergency card holds vital information that enables emergency personnel to save valuable time after accidents or urgent trips to the hospital in France or abroad.

    Avoiding mistakes:

Do you have allergies, medical contra-indications, a serious illness, contact lenses … if the LIFECARTE is correctly filled in, by you or with the help of your doctor, it provides vital information that allows medical staff to take account of your personal medical history when diagnosing and treating you.
40% of the 500,000 to 700,000 serious complications that arise in France each year during medical or surgical treatment could be avoided if the medical history was known (DREES study, June 2005).

    Reassuring your close family
It holds a list of people to be informed and several useful numbers to be called in the event of any problems. Crucially, it will include the number of your regular doctor.
We all have a mobile phone, but how many numbers do we have in our contacts book? Emergency personnel frequently check the last number dialled, but this is not as reliable as having the ‘right number to call' on your LIFECARTE.

Being understood in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese
All the information in French on your LIFECARTE can also be read in five other languages: English, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese. This is very practical for people who travel a lot and also for children who go abroad on language-learning or sporting trips.

    Making life easier
Does your close family know where you keep the number for your mutual insurance company? Do you yourself know which insurance company you are covered by? Do you know the hotline number for your insurance contract? This kind of practical information is registered once and for all on your LIFECARTE, where it can be read by emergency personnel, thus making matters much more straight-forward for all.

    Saving another life
One of the first details on the LIFECARTE concerns organ donation. Agreeing to donate your organs is an important decision but, sadly, often has to be taken by your nearest and dearest in very traumatic circumstances. By ticking the box in your LIFECARTE, you take a deeply intimate decision yourself.
